  • 6 Signs of a False Teacher

These are notes I took on a message given - "6 Signs of a False Teacher"

    1) Look and sound like Christians
    2) Produce fruit and doctrine that is anti-Christ (Matt 7:15-18)
    3) Like titles. (Reverend, Prophet, Pastor, Deacon, etc.)
    4) Deny the deity and exclusivity of Jesus Christ. (2 John 7)
    5) Form of godiness but deny God.
    6) Proclaim a false Jesus and False Gospel.

Some heresies plaguing the church today: Uncritical tolerance, mysticism, post-modernism, universal Jesus (a form of Jesus is found in all religions).

Don't be afraid to call out anyone that professes to be a Christian but proclaim a false gospel and false Jesus.  True Christians are not offended by confrontation, instead true Christians see it as an act of love and accountability.  They are not offended because there is no more Self - but Christ.  False teachers see confrontation as "unloving" because they hate the light.

  • Desiring God Conference 2010

John Piper has decided to include Rick Warren in this years Desiring God Conference.  Below is a commentary on this issue by "Wretched Radio" http://www.wretchedradio.com/:

"How many people have been deeply wounded because of “The Purpose Driven Church”? If I were a betting man, I would guess millions have been driven from their beloved church because of the writings of Rick Warren.  That is the second reason I absolutely hate the decision made by a man I love to invite Rick Warren to speak at the Desiring God Conference in the fall of this year.

As Purpose has seduced over 300,000 pastors (that is not a guess) to leave the Jesus Model and follow the Rick Model, faithful sheep have been forced out of their church by their shepherd to make room for the goats. Devastating.

If you are one of those people, I am very, very sorry that one of the men who probably served as an anchor during your storm has seen fit to use his national conference to figure out how Rick Warren ticks. Frankly, we know how Rick Warren ticks. He may have file cabinet orthodoxy, but his public works are nothing short of lethal.

Perhaps you have suffered the effects of purpose poison and now your almost-healed scars have been ripped open. Many of us feel bad for you. Please heal fast knowing that you were not wrong, you were wronged.

You were not the bad guy when you left your church whimpering and scalded. You were right. Rick Warren’s pragmatic methodology is not Biblical. His use of Scripture is worse than a self-proclaimed “bishop” on prosperity TV. Rick Warren’s Gospel is no Gospel at all.

That is the number one reason why I continue to be saddened by this decision; the Gospel will suffer and more people will be hurt.

Honestly, I thought Rick Warren’s Purpose kingdom was one to two years away from joining Jabez on the ash heap of church trends. Unfortunately, Purpose has been given new life by a highly esteemed pastor.
    Tragic.

  • Unbiblical Worship Songs

In countless churches all over America people gather on Sunday's to sing "worship" songs.  One very well know song paraphrases 1 Corinthians 2:9 -

    "No eye has seen,
    no ear has heard,
    no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love Him."

This paraphrase is droned out many times leaving one to believe it's message.  But if we were to read our Bibles we would find the very next verse 1 Corinthians 2:10, to elaborate and illuminate this verse further "but God revealed it to us by His Spirit."

So many modern day "worship" songs are mind-numbing and many times half truths/unbiblical.

  • Shephards who do not protect the sheeps

The excerpt below from the book entitled "The Jesus You Can't Ignore" by John MacArthur.

"Any literal shepherd tasked with deeding the leading a flock of lambs would be thought deranged if he regarded wolves as potential pets to be domesticated and amalgamated into the fold.  Suppose he actively sought and tried to befriend young wolves, presuming he could teach them to mingle with his sheep - insisting against all wise counsel that his experiment might succeed, and if it does, the wolves will acquire the sheep's gentleness and the sheep will learn things from the wolves.  Such a shepherd would be worse than useless; he himself would pose an extreme danger to the flock.

Nearly as bad would be a shepherd whose vision is myopic.  He has never seen a wolf clearly with his own eyes.  He therefore believes the threat of wolves is grossly exaggerated.  Even though his sheep keep disappearing or getting torn to shreds by something, he refuses to believe it is wolves that are harming his flock.  He declars that he is tired of hearing shrill wolf-warnings from others."

  • Sometimes it's Not OK to be Nice

There is a new book out by John MacArthur called "The Jesus You Can't Ignore - What you must learn from the Bold Confrontations of Christ".

    Quote from the book's promotion:

"These days, Jesus is usually portrayed as a pacifist, a kind healer, or a docile teacher, striking a plastic-even pathetic-pose in people's minds.

And while Jesus was perfect in love, kindness, and compassion, that's not the whole story.  When faced with religious leaders teaching false doctrine, He didn't seek conversation, common ground, or peaceful resolution.  He confronted.  He bluntly refused to contribute to any sense of spiritual unity with the false teachers.

In other words, Jesus wouldn't be welcomed in most evangelical circles today.  His bold methods of dealing with error are foreign to today's church.  The need for a fresh understanding and application of Jesus' model is desperate."

This seems an excellent book to read.

Statement burning in my heart: "STOP PLAYING RELIGION WITH GOD.  STOP PLAYING CHURCH WITH GOD.  STOP LOVING THE PRAISES OF MEN MORE THAN THE PRAISES OF GOD."

  • False Apostles

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 - "For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve."

It takes wisdom and discernment to see those who are masquerading as false apostles.  The Bible does speak of such men and warns those who follow Christ to be on guard against such leaven.  To deny that false apostles exist is to deny this teaching from the Word of God.

Sadly, many churches today scoff at this idea.  They will publicly deride you and make you out to be the "intolerant brother" for even suggesting such an idea exists.  They will tout "Unity, unity.  Do not suggest anything that will break our unity of love".  Sadly these men do not know Truth.  They are blinded by their quest for a "love" that will incorporate their sins.  These men love to hear about forgiveness, grace and love but not about God's righteousness and law.  They want preachers that preach holiness but not doctrine.  This is the spirit that indwells the churches today.

  • Shout Out to Jesus Christ?

I was watching The Price is Right this morning.  One person was giving a shout out.  It went a little like this:  "I'd like to give a shout out to Jesus Christ, my mom and dog."  He seemed a really nice guy, but is that really any way to show reverence to the Creator of all things?  I think it's an awful testimony for a "christian" to give.  It really saddens my heart.
